About Blaenafon Community Heritage and Cordell MuseumCome and visit our museum at the World Heritage site of Blaenafon to discover more about the history of Blaenafon, search through genealogical and family history archives and find out information about Alexander Cordell, one of Wales' most prolific writers . A huge array of exhibits and stands will guide you through the fascinating history of Blaenafon from the early days of the Industrial Revolution though to the modern day World Heritage Site. At Blaenafon Community Heritage Museum we can help you trace your own family history or you can just browse through the vast collection of parish registers, baptisms, burials and marriage records. The museum also holds and displays items from local industrial archaeological artifacts, a huge collection of photographs and books, furniture, coins, military uniforms, militaria and much more. Our Genealogy SectionInterested in researching your family history around the area of Blaenafon? Well we can help. The museum houses one of the largest Genealogical and Family History Archives outside the County Archives. Numerous records of Births, Deaths and Marriages etc. are stocked for people that wish to trace and research their roots in this area of South Wales. Mondays are special for Family History Days for the public to carry out their research.Blaenafon Community ArchiveWithin the building is the Blaenafon Community Archive, a digital library of historical photographs of the town and its people. This archive is the first Community Archive of this kind in Wales.Whilst in Blaenafon why not take a walk around the town, using the ‘Blaenafon Town Walk’ to guide you, and sample the town’s heritage first hand, available from the Museum, Browning’s Books, Broad Street and the Tourist Information Centre (T.I.C.), at Blaenafon Ironworks.
